The product
Is this legal advice?
No. MarkSentry reduces risk; it is not legal advice and it does not clear any product. An AI check can miss things and can flag things that are fine. For a decision that matters, talk to a lawyer who handles intellectual property.
What exactly does it check?
The images of every product, all of them, not just the first. It looks for licensed characters, brand logos and names, designer prints, and sports or university marks. The product title is given to the AI as context.
Do you only look at the main photo?
No. Each product is judged on all of its images, up to 100 per product; if it has more, it is never called clean: at the least it goes to Needs review. If an image cannot be downloaded, the product is not judged on the rest: it is tried again. And it does not only look for logos: it recognises licensed characters, team crests and designer prints like the Burberry check, including on props in the photo. Findings come with the reason and, when it can, the owner it suspects; the decision is yours.
Does it check titles and descriptions too?
It focuses on images, which is where text-only checkers miss most problems. The title is used as context to understand the picture, but the app is not a keyword checker.
How accurate is it?
It recognises well-known characters, logos and prints well, but it is not perfect: it can miss something obscure or heavily altered, and it can flag an original design that resembles a famous one. That is why there are two levels, "Infringes" and "Needs review", and why the final decision is yours.
Does it work for dropshipping stores?
Yes. Products imported with dropshipping apps are ordinary Shopify products with their images, and they are checked the same way. It is where it helps most: large catalogs with photos nobody looked at one by one.
Your store
Can I try it before it scans my store?
Yes. Nothing is scanned when you install. In the app, Get started lets you test one photo free (one you upload or one of your product images; it is analysed and discarded, not stored), then scan 50 of your products free with one button.
Does it change my products on its own?
No. The app only lists findings. A product goes to draft when you press "Set to draft", or is archived when you press "Archive". Either way it is tagged trademark-risk and keeps the reason in a metafield, so you can find it again in your Shopify admin. You can reverse it in Shopify at any time.
What if I have a license for a character or brand?
Select the product and press "Mark safe". It stays marked until its images change; new images are checked again.
What about products I add later?
With a monthly plan they are checked automatically, as are products whose images change. Without a plan, they wait until you have checks available.
How long does it take?
It depends on the size of the catalog and how many images each product has. Results appear as it goes, so you can start reviewing before it finishes.
Data and privacy
What do you do with my data?
We read your products and their images, and store the results for your account. Images are sent to our AI provider only to be analysed. We never read customer or order data. About 48 hours after you uninstall everything is deleted, except a one-way hash of your shop domain that remembers how many free-sample products you used, so the sample stays once per store. See the privacy policy.
Are my images used to train an AI?
No. We use Anthropic's commercial API, whose terms state that data sent through the API is not used to train its models.
Price and billing
How much does it cost?
The first 50 products are free, once per store. The initial scan of the rest of your catalog costs from $29.99 (one time), priced by the products left to scan after the sample and monthly plans from $24.99. See the full price list.
Can I cancel?
Yes, any time, from the Plans page or by uninstalling the app. The initial scan is a one-time charge for work already done.
